Ballet is a type of performance dance that originated during the Italian Renaissance in the 15th century and later developed into a concert dance form in France and Russia. It has since become a widespread, highly technical form of dance with its own vocabulary based on French terminology. It has been globally influential and has defined the foundation techniques used in many other dance genres and cultures.
Age Group: Kiddos (Age 3-8)
Beginner: You will start with various stretches and begin your introductory course in ballet. You will be taught to maintain straight posture from your head to your toe. You will learn basic ballet steps. You will learn the positions of the arms and feet to create simple combinations.
Intermediate: You will increase your flexibility by focusing on working on the hamstrings, calves, quadriceps and back muscles. You will spend time on the ballet barre and continue your arms and feet basic steps and increase your combinations vocabulary.
When students reach the age of 8, you will be placed in Pre-Teens Beginners after finishing your 8 weeks course of Kiddos Intermediate level or you will need Permission of Department to get into Pre-Teens Intermediate level.
Advance: Adding onto your previous classes vocabulary and combinations, you will learn how to travel from one corner of the room to the next by basic turns, jumps and leaps. Students will begin to learn creative movement using these basic steps they learn over the session and attempt new jumps and execute them with more repetition while learning the names of the steps in this class.
Permission of Department
When students reach the age of 8, you will be placed in Pre-Teens Intermediate after finishing your 8 weeks course of Kiddos Intermediate level.
Age Group: Pre-teens (Age 9-12)
Beginner: You will start with various stretches to increase your flexibility and understand how your muscles coordinate in ballet. Stretching will focus on working on the hamstrings, calves, quadriceps and back muscles. You will spend time on the ballet barre and in the center of the room learning the positions of the arms and feet for basic ballet steps which will be combines to create simple combinations. They will be taught about maintaining correct posture from top of your head to toe.
Intermediate: Adding on from your beginner level, you will also learn how to travel from one corner of the room to the next by basic turns, jumps and leaps. Students will begin to learn creative movement using these basic steps they learn over the session and attempt new jumps and execute them with more repetition while learning the names of the steps in this class.
When students reach the age of 13, you will be placed in Pre-Teens Intermediate after finishing your 8 weeks course of Pre-Teens Intermediate level.
Advance: Dancers at this level will start class at the ballet barre to work on classical technique, executing combinations at different musical tempos and on different musical counts. They will also build strength and learn how to put several steps together while smoothly transferring their weight and holding correct posture and body placement.
Permission of Department
When students reach the age of 13, you will be placed in Pre-Teens Intermediate after finishing your 8 weeks course of Pre-Teens Advance level or you will need Permission of Department to get into Teens Advance level.
Elite: Dancers will add several new steps to their repertoire. Center work will consist of an adagio, a tendu combination, jumps – including petit allegro and batterie, and pirouette preparations and turns. Corner work will consist of jump, waltz, and various traveling combinations kept in time to the music. Dancers will learn basic kinesiology and stage placement. They will be given literature on anatomy for dancers. It further expands the dancer’s understanding of proper technique, posture, and placement. Core strength is also a focus for this Level
Permission of department to enter this level
When students reach the age of 13, you will be placed in Teens Advance level after finishing your 8 weeks course of Pre-Teens Elite level.
Age Group: Teens (Age 13-18)
Beginner: You will start with various stretches to increase your flexibility and understand how your muscles coordinate in ballet. Stretching will focus on working on the hamstrings, calves, quadriceps and back muscles. You will spend time on the ballet barre and in the center of the room learning the positions of the arms and feet for basic ballet steps which will be combines to create simple combinations. Students will begin to learn creative movement using these basic steps they learn over the session and attempt new jumps and execute them with more repetition while learning the names of the steps in this class.

They will also add new steps to their repertoire, moving beyond the Beginning Level. Center work will consist of an adagio, a tendu combination, jumps – including petit allegro and batterie, and pirouette preparations and turns. Corner work will consist of jump, waltz, and various traveling combinations, including grande allegro, which are more advanced than at the Beginning Level, and kept in time to the music. Dancers will learn basic kinesiology and stage placement. It further expands the dancer’s understanding of proper technique, posture, and placement, with a strong focus on turns and specific technique required for pointe work.
Permission of Department
Elite: Dancers at this level will start class at the ballet barre to work on classical technique, executing combinations at different musical tempos and on different musical counts. They will build strength and learn how to put several steps together while smoothly transferring their weight and holding correct posture and body placement. Focus will be on building core strength. They will also add new steps to their repertoire, moving beyond the Intermediate Level. Center work will consist of an adagio, a tendu combination, jumps – including petit allegro and batterie, and pirouette preparations and turns. Dancers will begin to work on attitude positions, as well as, develop their grande rond de jambe and rond de jambe en l’air. Corner work will consist of jump, waltz, and various traveling combinations, including grande allegro, kept in time to the music. These combinations may exceed 2 eight counts of movement. Dancers will learn basic kinesiology and stage placement. They will be given literature on anatomy for dancers.

Certification: To be Certified in a Ballet Dance style you please ask the ballet department.
